I was playing around with the idea of going with the "all artists are like" blurb on context but I think instead I'm going to go mad with production for my Pencil brief. Like use text in an acceptable way on a webpage and gift bag thingy?
I've been doing research again:
First of all Rogan Josh, and his excellent minimalist posters are really fun and colourful and it's really nice to have something so stripped down.
Stefan Brüggemann is my second super find,
doing what I kinda want to do, i need this website idea to be very very minimalist so i can show off my work to it's fullest.
Nobody makes proper pies anymore. ________________________________________________________

Ideaaaa!
Present my final idea for the tshirt/pencil project on a webpage...like when you buy tshirts? I can create like a big cartel website for it (obviously not a real one) and make a gift bag...now i need some cool paper.

finally...
I've fallen in love with http://silhouettemasterpiecetheatre.com/ Jarringly funny in some places and very well thought out, Wilhelm Staehle is a genious.
And it's given me some thoughts for my final project, I think I'm going to tackle the context :
"A small print on a mailbox becomes something really precious..." explore surroundings..
That one, anyway, I was thinking from looking at these, you know when you see something and it doesn't quite look right, I could try and recreate that? I'll do some more research and get back to you ;)

& more..
I went to a textiles workshop today (after missing the metalwork one I was really looking forward to :( )
and got to grips with a sewing machine again. I forgot how much I actually like working with textiles.
Apparently there is some material in the textiles room thats slightly see-through, abit like tracing paper, and since looking back over my research I could maybe stitch a "building-screen" together, like one long piece?
i had another idea about shadow puppets or shadows on tracing paper, but I think this one could look more professional, maybe abit Tilleke schwarz-like.
sorteeeed. Now all I have to do is actually do it haha.

Catching up.
I've been so ill it's untrue, but i've also been a busy bear.
I did a quick photoshoot of my tshirt idea:
:) tshirt DONE! haha i've been looking into how to present it, and it seems the easiest way would be hang one up and put one in like a gift bag?
time to learn origami.

Okay..
After thinking about it at length, decided I'm going to do two tshirts (different versions of eachother) so people can choose, i had a fiddle with a new design too, something abit cleaner.
Now to take them into the big bad world.
And I started making my own shadows, in line with thinking about projection and such :)
Left over bits, but I thought it looked cool :)

I'm totally confused.
...And disoriented.
I finally get my act together about my tshirt design,
Which is the reasoning behind all the research, all the photoshoots etc.
& I'm just not keen and I don't know why.
I started looking at just general designs around town etc, on some of the thsirts and I think it's because it's very busy. So I've been simplifying...
I really like the last one, but then again it's not much to do with my research, although it is entirely what a pencil manual would be in my head. I'm considering making two and then just photographing them both and letting other people choose. I think because it'll be on a white shirt it may look abit naff (my original design).
-----------------------------
On another note, i've got a new direction with use a building as a screen.
William Kentridge is amazing and i'm sad i havent discovered him sooner.
and this guy --->Robin Rhode
Maybe I could use a "shadow" as my thing I'm putting on my building canvas?
I think i'm onto something :)

A bit of inspiration!
Two perfect examples of the type of thing I want, both taken from a Magzine, the kind of styling at the moment is very "Mad Men" esque, like so:
which is very on tack for what I wanted.
Woodwork 101.
The hardest part of the entire workshop is trying to get all the thousands of measurements right :( I've never been good with numbers, it's a good job I had an awesome team to help build it. I think it's really cute and roughly 1/6th of the size. Excellent!
